The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra is a three-tiered instrumental educational program based at College of the Canyons that provides a positive and creative outlet for hundreds of young musicians throughout the community. Incorporated in 1986, the orchestra originally resided at California Institute of the Arts. It moved to College of the Canyons in 1989 and has been there ever since. The orchestra foundation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes to promote the advancement of music education. The annual Wine Classic has traditionally been a major source of funding for the Youth Orchestra program, ensuring that young people with a passion for music can continue to benefit from the experience that participation in a dynamic and vibrant orchestra can provide.
